Blue Italian Design C1816 Tea Set perhaps is the most famous of Spode’s collections. Blue Italian adopts a detailed Imari Oriental border, a pattern found in Japanese works. This Asian frame encompasses a typical image of the Italian countryside in blue and set against a crisp white earthenware base, creating a perfect balance between these two colors. The plate displays a border adorned with a floral and scroll motif, framing the central scenic depiction.
This beautiful collection of blue and white tea set has since become the pottery company’s signature release, continuing to grace homes right up to the present day.
